What you will do In the role of Field Technician, you will be an integral part of the Fairway Architectural Railing Solution (Fairway) team and will work with an unwavering commitment to the Company's core values; honesty and integrity, compliance, safety, quality, execution, and profitability.
Reporting to the Manager of Field Operations, you will be an important part of a team who upholds and exhibits the Company Core Values that is responsible for supporting project work at various job sites in the field (general Maryland/Viriginia Mid-Atlantic area) and who works to ensure that our Core Values are represented in your work and actions.
Your typical day looks like Travelling to various job sites and collect technical data, including measurements, photos, and general site information; some travel will require overnight stays.
Installing of site railing, balconies, handrail, garage grills, pergolas, etc.
on multifamily and commercial projects.
Inspecting and monitoring work in process on job sites; reporting any conditions or behaviors that are unsafe or go against the Company's core values.
Monitoring activities on the job site and ensure all company representatives including employees, subcontractors, vendors, etc.
are working safely; correcting and/or reporting any identified unsafe conditions immediately.
Educating and training subcontractors and monitoring all site work to ensure the work is done efficiently, accurately, and to the Company's quality standards.
Performing quality inspections for completed jobs and ensuring the work meets the customer's expectations.
Identifying and completing necessary re-work and repairs as needed.
Assisting other employees and subcontractors as needed; always working with a serving attitude.
Always working safely and in a fashion that exhibits the Company's core values.
What you will bring to the role High School diploma or equivalent; advanced technical training or course work related to the tasks is preferred but not required.
One (1) year of experience in a construction environment preferred.
Previous experience in railing installation preferred.
Must have a drivers license and a clean driving record.
Must be willing to travel.
Some travel will require overnight stays (roughly 25%).
Must have a serving attitude and be willing to represent the Company and its core values.
Must be dependable, trustworthy, and exhibit good attendance.
Must be able to communicate professionally and effectively with customers, other tradesmen, subcontractors, and internal customers.
Must be detail oriented, organized, and able to work efficiently with little supervision; must work with an attitude that fosters accountability and responsibility.
The position is a 40 hour work week with overtime as needed to support jobs and projects.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion.
Must be able to work at heights over 20 feet regularly and operate lifts.
Must be able to read and comprehend blueprints, work orders, and other instructions.
Must be able to use tape measures and other measuring devices and take and record accurate measurements.
Should have a good understanding of angles and degrees.
Be able to demonstrate basic math and have the ability to accurately complete computations.
Should have a working knowledge of computers and other communication and technical devices; should be familiar with project management systems and the Microsoft office suite.
Physical demands of the position requires full motion and use for reaching of arms, hands, and fingers; must have full range of motion in upper body to climb, carry, reach, stretch, turn, lift, hold, and touch.
Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; all motions may be required at heights exceeding 20 feet.
Cannot be visually impaired; must be able to see both close and long distance.
The position is a manual labor, physically demanding position and the work environment is construction / job site based.
Field Technicians will be exposed to all types of weather and may be regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, high/precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, and moving vehicles and equipment.
Safety equipment is provided and required to be used at all times and in accordance with the Company's safety policies and expectations.
